Cavities, gum disease and oral cancer are one of the most common oral health concerns for the American population. To help combat and reduce the risk of these dental concerns, the American Dental Association recommends brushing once in the morning and once at night. They also recommend flossing at least once a day, preferably before going to bed.
The ADA also states keeping up with routine dental visits and going in as often as needed will be very beneficial to your oral health. Whether all you need are regular cleanings twice a year, or a deeper cleaning three or more times a year, it is important to pay a visit to your dentist and get yourself taken care of. Routine appointments not only make sure your oral health stays up to date, but also reduce the risk of any complications if any oral health problems arise. By coming in as often as needed, any sort of dental concern can be detected in the early stages, which reduces the cost of any treatment needed.
Routine cleaning appointments performed at Westtown Dental Care are designed to clean your teeth and detect any oral health concerns. We will begin the appointment by taking any checkup X-rays if you are eligible. At Westtown Dental Care, we utilize the latest technology of an Itero Machine. This machine allows us to scan a 3D image of your teeth. Dr. Bekyan will use this image to show you any problem areas she finds. She will then review the X-rays, if taken, and then proceed with an exam and let you know of any treatment needed. Either Dr. Bekyan or our hygienist will perform the cleaning and remove any traces of plaque or tartar buildup. After the cleaning, we will polish the teeth to remove any minor stains.
If Dr. Bekyan detects any problems with your oral health, she will take her time and thoroughly explain to you her concerns. If she has the time during the same appointment, she will go over any treatment options needed and work with you to find the best solution. If not, we will schedule a free consultation to go over any questions or the finances for the treatment plan.
Whether it’s something that can be completed in our office or if you need to be referred to a specialist, Dr. Bekyan will let you be completely aware of it all. She dislikes surprising patients, whether it’s about copayments or dental work needed. If you decide to ever pay our office a visit, you will be quick to learn Dr. Bekyan genuinely cares about her patients and is upfront about any and all treatments needed.
